History Of Original Music Lessons

Original Music Lessons was founded by David Boban. David is an experienced music teacher/performer who has taught private and group piano lessons lessons for 10 years in the northwest Indiana area. He is the choir accompanist for his former high school and has played piano, bass guitar, guitar, and drums for many local churches and schools in the area. David has also provided music for several establishments in the northwest Indiana area, as well as in Chicago. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree at Purdue University Calumet, David moved to Virginia where he continued to work in the music teaching business alongside musicians from the Juilliard School of Music, NY. While in Virginia David discovered the many advantages of home lessons for both the parents and the students.

With the decision to get married, David decided to move back to his home town of Whiting Indiana. He decided to pursue this method of teaching in his home town offering his services to a wider base of students in the area.

Original Music Lessons is getting more and more students every week, and are dedicated to teaching the styles and songs that interest our students most. We have a very experienced and professional staff that loves teaching and will work with any student that meets the age requirements.

Original Music Lessons offers lessons to the northwest Indiana and south Chicago area. We currently offer lessons in piano, guitar, bass guitar, drums, singing, flute, and music composition in the student’s home. Call us today for a free trial lesson!

Our Teaching Philosophy

Each of our teachers are interviewed for their musical background, background checked, and specialize in at least two or three styles of music. They are professional and friendly and willing to work with any age group seeking lessons.

We believe strongly that students must be motivated to learn to play music, and we work hard to motivate them. We work with the student to find what styles and forms of music interest the student the most and work from there. If a student is most interested in learning a song they heard on the radio, we will write it out and work with them to learn it. If they are most interested in writing their own music, we will guide them in the theories needed to do that. If the student is interested in playing classical music, we can do that too. When students are having fun learning what they want to learn, practicing comes naturally and both the teacher and the student have a great time experiencing music.

We are open from:        10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday

                                       10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
