How long will it take me or my child to learn the instrument of their choice? Original Music Lessons does not guarantee how much progress each student will make over a given period of time. It is up to them to do their own practicing with what the teacher provides for them. |

Do I need to spend a lot of money for an instrument for my child or myself right away? No. By no means does a beginning student need a brand new, expensive instrument to learn on. Quality of instrument has no bearing on how fast a student will learn or on how interested they will remain. Our recommendation is that parents play it safe and find something affordable until they are sure their child will remain interested in their musical endeavors. For potential piano learners: students learning piano do not need to have a real piano. A keyboard works just fine. |

Is my child old enough to start taking lessons? Students learning piano usually start at 5 years old. Students learning guitar, flute, drums, and vocal lessons generally start at 7 years old. Music composition is aimed for students 12 and up. |

What if we miss a lesson that we paid for? Are there make up lessons? Make up lessons are provided at the discretion of the teacher providing the lessons. Make up lessons are not guaranteed for a student's absence. When you pay for four weeks of lessons, you are paying for the teacher to have that time set aside in their daily schedule to provide you with a lesson. It is not fair for the teacher to set aside time for a student only to have the lesson cancelled and not receive payment. Original Music Lessons is not responsible for providing refunds for missed lessons. That being said, teachers generally do try to make some kind of arrangement for missed lessons based on their schedule. |

What if I already have a music book I would like to learn from? That’s great! We encourage students to seek out music that interests them. We will work with you and whatever music you already have. However, learning advanced material from an advanced book might be a big step to take for a beginning student, so some beginning level instruction will have to take place beforehand. But don’t worry, we’ll get to your favorite songs as soon as we can! |
